DA’s First Look: EcoPico Desktop

DailyAquatics.com

California (DailyAquatics.com) – DA recently had the opportunity to look at the new EcoPico by Ecoxotic. The aquarium is a very simplistic design that comes with a lighting and filtration. The small and simple design is sure to be a hit with the current pico craze in the hobby.

The included pump/filter is tiny and when setup with your aquarium decor you wont even be able to see it in the tank. The aquarium also comes with a glass lid to prevent splashing or those unfortunate moments when livestock goes carpet surfing. The lid is held on by four small plastic mounts, but be careful when pulling them apart as the plastic may have sharp tips. The metal mount has a small screw in the back designed for stability and to keep it level. The included LED strip has three (3) LED’s and are bright enough to light up the tank. One nice touch is that Ecoxotic uses minimal packaging and the packing materials are earth friendly. With a reminder to make sure you recycle!

I cannot say if the lighting is strong enough for corals, because the tank is not setup yet. However, you have up to three (3) LED strips its safe to assume soft corals should do just fine. This tank is sure to be a hit with hobbyists and is available now with authorized retailers.
